Fadjar Donny Tjahjadi faces trial in Rp7.37 trillion CPO corruption case
Fadjar Donny Tjahjadi, the former Technical Director of Customs at the Ministry of Finance, has faced his first trial at the Jakarta Pusat Corruption Court regarding an alleged crude palm oil (CPO) export corruption scandal. The case, spanning the 2022-2024 period, involves allegations of manipulating export classifications to bypass state regulations.
Prosecutors claim the scheme involved disguising CPO and its derivatives as palm oil liquid waste (PAO/POME) to evade export obligations, including the Domestic Market Obligation (DMO) and export duties. This manipulation allegedly resulted in state losses estimated at approximately Rp7.37 trillion, according to audits by the Audit Board of Indonesia (BPK).
A total of 11 defendants are involved in the case, including government officials and various private sector directors. The prosecution detailed various illicit fees received by participants, ranging from millions to hundreds of billions of rupiah, as part of the effort to circumvent national strategic commodity controls.
