Former Da Nang Education Officer Nguyen Van Chuong Arrested Over $1.8 bn Bid Fraud
Nguyen Van Chuong, a former specialist in the Education and Training Department of Nam Tra My district (formerly Quảng Nam province), was charged and placed in pre‑trial detention for four months by the Da Nang City Police. Authorities say he violated Vietnam's bidding law while preparing procurement documents for school equipment, causing an estimated loss of nearly 1.8 billion VND to the state budget.
The investigation, launched under article 222 of the Criminal Code, is being expanded to identify any additional individuals or organizations involved. Police said the case is part of broader anti‑corruption efforts to protect public assets and ensure proper use of government funds.
