Former Deutsche Bank CEO Josef Ackermann’s wife Pirkko Ackermann dies in Zurich

Pirkko Anneli Ackermann‑Mölsa, a Finnish former student of economics at the University of St. Gallen, died on 19 July 2026 in Zurich at the age of 77. She had married Josef Ackermann in 1977, a Swiss‑born banker who later became CEO of the Deutsche Bank from 2002 to 2012, and they have a daughter, Catherine, a 42‑year‑old actress and film producer. The family announced a private burial and will hold a public memorial service on 27 August 2026 in Zurich, inviting all who wish to pay their respects. In the death notice the family wrote, “Du bist nicht fort – du bist uns nur ein Stück vorausgegangen.”
