Former Dutch doctor suspected of abusing children in the Philippines

Martin B., a 66-year-old former anesthesiologist from Bergen, Netherlands, is suspected of the sexual abuse of at least four children in the Philippines. During a preliminary hearing in Den Bosch, prosecutors alleged that the suspect abused a three-year-old girl in exchange for money in late 2023 and raped a girl under the age of twelve. The suspect is also accused of paying teenage girls to perform sexual acts and watching live streams of child abuse.

Prosecutors stated that the suspect had purchased land in the Philippines and expressed intentions in chat messages to move there after retirement, noting that ‘all the girls were welcome.’ He is alleged to have worked with local facilitators who provide children for sexual abuse. Several of these facilitators have reportedly been arrested in the Philippines.

Martin B. worked as an anesthesiologist at the Noordwest Ziekenhuisgroep for over 25 years. The hospital expressed being ‘shocked and dismayed’ by the allegations, stating they had no prior knowledge of any suspicious behavior or signals related to these charges. The hospital noted that the suspect had already resigned due to private circumstances unrelated to his medical work. The suspect will undergo psychological evaluation, and the next hearing is scheduled for November 16.
