Nadiem Makarim Appeals Jakarta Chromebook Corruption Verdict
Former education minister Nadiem Anwar Makarim, convicted of corruption over the 2020‑2022 procurement of Chromebook laptops and Chrome Device Management for the Ministry of Education, was sentenced by the Jakarta Corruption Court to ten years in prison, a fine of one billion rupiah and restitution of 809.59 billion rupiah. The court also recorded a state loss of about 1.56 trillion rupiah.
Nadiem filed an appeal that began with a first‑hearing on 5 August 2026 at the Jakarta High Court.
