Former Federal official José Luis Bustamante faces corruption trial

An oral and public trial against José Luis Bustamante, a former official of the Municipality of Federal, is scheduled to begin this Monday in Concordia. Bustamante, who served as the Secretary of Planning, Works, and Public Services during the administration of Gerardo Chapino, faces charges of embezzlement of goods and services and breach of official duties.

The investigation follows a complaint filed after a change in municipal administration. Prosecutors aim to determine if Bustamante authorized the use of municipal personnel, materials, and services to perform infrastructure work—specifically regarding sewage network installation and pipe placement—on a property belonging to a direct relative in the Las Flores neighborhood.

Key witnesses expected to testify include current municipal president Alicia Oviedo and various municipal workers. The court will evaluate whether public resources were used for private benefit and if the municipality received any compensation for the services provided.
