Former German government Airbus A340 for sale
The former German government aircraft, an Airbus A340-300 named ‘Theodor Heuss’, is currently up for sale through the US-based aircraft dealer Jetcraft. The plane was previously used to transport former Chancellor Angela Merkel, German presidents, and various ministers on international missions.
Built in 2000, the aircraft has completed over 50,700 flight hours and 8,768 landings. It features a VVIP interior designed for high-ranking officials, including a private suite, sleeping quarters, and a bathroom equipped with a shower. While the aircraft still retains its black-red-gold fuselage stripe, the German national insignia and ‘Bundesrepublik Deutschland’ markings have been removed.
Jetcraft has stated that the aircraft has been ‘completely demilitarized,’ with all security equipment previously installed by the German government removed. The plane can accommodate 145 passengers and has a range of approximately 13,000 kilometers. The sale price is currently listed as ‘subject to negotiation,’ and the buyer will receive the jet with a new ‘Matterhorn White’ paint job.
