Former Italcementi cement plant in Monselice begins demolition
The former Italcementi cement works in Monselice, Veneto, has moved from preparatory cleaning to active demolition of its northern industrial structures. The site, shut down in 2015, covers about 66 hectares and includes the old Monte Fiorine quarry. The project is part of a broader brownfield regeneration effort aimed at converting the former factory area into sustainable urban uses. Initial demolition work marks the start of what is being promoted as one of the region’s largest sustainable redevelopment initiatives.
Local authorities and project coordinators emphasize that the demolition phase will be followed by remediation and planning for new mixed‑use developments, aligning with climate‑resilience goals and regional economic revitalisation.
