Former Jacobina mayor fined for manipulated political alliance post

The Regional Electoral Court of Bahia (TRE-BA) has fined former Jacobina mayor Tiago Manoel Dias Ferreira R$ 5,000 for disseminating manipulated political content. The court ruled that a social media post featuring a montage simulating a political alliance between President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and opposition figures João Roma and ACM Neto constituted premature electoral propaganda.

The court determined the post could mislead the public by suggesting a non-existent political partnership and failed to meet legal transparency requirements for manipulated content. In addition to the fine, the court ordered the permanent removal of the post from Facebook and Instagram and prohibited any further circulation of the image.
