Former J&K DGP S.P. Vaidh decries PoJK elections and urges global attention

Former Jammu‑Kashmir police chief S.P. Vaidh said the situation in Pakistan‑administered Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK) is severe, describing the upcoming elections as a sham because the parties backed by the Pakistani army are guaranteed to win. He highlighted mass protests, Pakistani ranger and army firing on demonstrators that left many dead and injured, and videos circulating on social media pleading for help from international human‑rights bodies.

Vaidh also criticised the international community, questioning the silence of the United Nations Human Rights Council, the UN, the United States and Western media. He urged India to raise the PoJK issue on global forums. In addition, he commented on recent protests in Delhi, defending the use of pallet‑guns to protect police and public property, while calling for minimal force in student protests. Regarding a Bihar incident where police used an AK‑47, he said water‑cannon, tear‑gas and non‑lethal methods should be preferred and called for a fair investigation.
