Former JPSC Chairman L. Khianyante denied bail in exam fraud case

A special CID court has rejected the bail plea of L. Khianyante, the former chairman of the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC), in connection with the 14th JPSC examination fraud case.

The CID alleges that Khianyante played a central role in facilitating the appointment of a blacklisted private company, Triple D Digital Private Limited (TDPL), to conduct JPSC examinations. Investigators further claim he was involved in receiving significant commissions and misused his official position to manipulate the recruitment process. The agency also noted attempts to destroy evidence during the investigation.

Defense counsel argued that no incriminating documents or materials were recovered during raids on Khianyante’s residence and maintained that there is no concrete evidence linking him to a criminal conspiracy. However, the court denied bail, citing the ongoing nature of the investigation and the potential for the accused to influence the case. Khianyante, a former Chief Secretary of Jharkhand, remains in judicial custody.
