Enrique N. linked to process for prisoner evasion in Puebla

A control judge has ordered the indictment and preventive detention of Enrique N., a former civil and criminal judge from the Tecamachalco Judicial District in Puebla, Mexico. The 58-year-old official faces charges related to the administration of justice and the evasion of a prisoner.

According to investigations by the Puebla State Attorney General's Office, Enrique N. allegedly failed to remit legal records of a criminal process to an itinerant execution judge in September 2024. This omission reportedly allowed a defendant to evade justice and escape illegally on September 18, 2024.

Enrique N. was apprehended during a search of a residence in Puebla City. Authorities reported that he attempted to bribe ministerial agents to avoid arrest. He will remain in the Tepexi de Rodríguez medium-security prison during the supplementary investigation phase.
