Former Judge Giribala Singh Seeks Safe Custody in Twisha Sharma Dowry Murder Case
In Bhopal, former district and sessions judge Giribala Singh and her son, Support Singh, were placed in 14‑day judicial custody at Bhopal Central Jail after the Central Bureau of Investigation’s custody period ended. The custody relates to the dowry‑related murder of former model Twisha Sharma, whose body was found hanging in her marital home on May 12.
During a court hearing, Singh warned that inmates she had previously sentenced could pose a threat to her and her son, and she asked the court to provide a secure location within the jail. She also alleged a “media trial” and claimed her son was assaulted by a lawyer in Jabalpur court. The court accepted her petition, directing jail officials to ensure their safety and ordering the CBI to minimize media exposure of the investigation. The case continues to draw significant public and media attention.
