Former Kentucky Governor Matt Bevin Misses Child Support Hearing

A Jefferson County Family Court hearing was held to decide whether former Kentucky Governor Matt Bevin and his ex‑wife Glenna Bevin must pay child support to their estranged 19‑year‑old son, Jonah Bevin. The judge, Angela Johnson, ordered all parties to appear in person; Matt Bevin attempted to join via videoconference, but the request was denied and he remained absent.

Glenna Bevin testified alone, describing the family’s adoption of Jonah in 2012 and his subsequent placements in out‑of‑state facilities. Jonah and his lawyers recounted allegations that the Bevins sent him to a Jamaican boarding school where he suffered severe abuse, and they seek financial support, education costs and attorneys’ fees exceeding $47,000. The day‑long hearing ended without a decision, with Judge Johnson giving the parties 21 days to submit final written arguments. Matt Bevin continues to face a bench warrant for contempt of court after refusing to turn over required financial records.

The case has seen multiple delays and appeals over the past year, and Jonah, who is also on probation for unrelated criminal charges, is currently living in Utah and seeking stability.
