Former Macedonian Football Federation chief Muamed Sejdin released on €1.15 million bail

The Basic Criminal Court in Skopje annulled the pre‑trial detention of Muamed Sejdin, the former president of the Football Federation of North Macedonia (FFM). The court accepted a bail guarantee exceeding €1.15 million, secured by a mortgage on Sejdin’s property, and ordered the removal of his passport as a precautionary measure.

Sejdin had been arrested on the proposal of the State Prosecutor’s Office and placed in custody on 24 April 2026 for 30 days due to a risk of flight and potential witness‑tampering. The detention was later extended by the Criminal Council. He is charged with embezzlement under article 354, paragraph 3 of the Criminal Code, alleged to involve the misappropriation of roughly €700,000 of UEFA‑provided funds earmarked for a stadium project in Ohrid. A second criminal complaint concerning additional misappropriated funds has also been filed.

With the bail accepted and no appeal lodged against the decision, the ruling became final, and Sejdin will now continue to defend himself while out of custody.
