Former MEP Stelios Kymbouropoulos breaks knee after wheelchair fall

Former European Parliament member Stelios Kymbouropoulos fell from his wheelchair on the night of 30 July. He was taken to the emergency department of Asklipion Voula Hospital in Greece, where doctors diagnosed a fracture of his knee and several bandages to his head.

Kymbouropoulos posted a video from the hospital thanking the medical and nursing staff. He said he expects to be in a plaster cast for a short period before moving to a walking brace and plans to resume his activities soon.

The incident highlighted the risks faced by individuals with mobility impairments, but no further injuries were reported.
