Former MP Mahfuzur Rahman Mita remanded in anti-terrorism case

A Dhaka court has granted a six-day remand for Mahfuzur Rahman Mita, a former Member of Parliament for the Chattogram-3 constituency, and a five-day remand for his driver, Golam Mawla Selim. The individuals are being held in connection with an anti-terrorism case involving an illegal procession near the Mohakhali Bus Terminal on June 18.

According to police reports, the accused, along with members of the banned Chhatra League, allegedly organized the procession, chanted anti-state slogans, and detonated crude bombs to create instability in the country. Authorities stated that the remand is necessary to investigate the planning behind these activities, identify other absconding suspects, and determine the source of the explosives used during the incident.
