Former Nagaon DC Debashis Sarma joins BJP in Assam

Former Nagaon District Commissioner and Assam Civil Service officer Debashis Sarma has formally joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Assam. The induction took place at the party’s state headquarters in Guwahati.

Sarma was joined by journalists Lenin Saurav Bora and Gunjan Kalita during the ceremony. The event was attended by Assam BJP president and MP Dilip Saikia, along with other senior party leaders. Saikia noted that the inclusion of individuals from administrative and media backgrounds would strengthen the party’s organizational foundation and social outreach within the state.

Sarma, who recently resigned from government service, previously held several key administrative positions across Assam. He stated that he was inspired by the party’s vision and is committed to working toward the welfare and progress of the people.
