Former NBA champion JR Smith debuts on APGA Tour at Michael Eaves Classic

Former NBA champion JR Smith made his debut on the Advocates Professional Golf Association (APGA) Tour at the Michael Eaves Classic and Celebrity Pro‑Am, held July 28‑29, 2026 at TPC Louisiana in Avondale, Louisiana. Competing as an amateur, he was ineligible for prize money from the $25,000 purse.

Smith, who graduated from the historically Black North Carolina A&T State University this spring, shot a nine‑over 81 in the first round, posting a birdie and ten pars to tie for 43rd of the 46‑player field. The tournament featured top Black professional golfers and offered $8,000 to the winner.
