Former NFL punter Kasey Redfern dies at 35

Former NFL punter Kasey Redfern has passed away at the age of 35 following a battle with central nervous system lymphoma. He died on October 13 after being diagnosed with the brain cancer in 2023.

Redfern played college football for the Wofford Terriers before entering the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2014. Throughout his professional career, which concluded in 2019, he had stints with the Chargers, Panthers, Browns, Lions, Cowboys, and Falcons. He maintained a career punt average of 42.1 yards.

His wife, Lauryl Redfern, noted that his recent health decline, including cognitive issues and memory loss, was likely due to neurotoxicity from three and a half years of medical treatments.
