Former NTU Professor Sentenced for Drugging and Sexually Assaulting Women

Cheng Wen-fang, a former prominent professor and attending physician in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at National Taiwan University (NTU), has been sentenced to 6 years and 9 months in prison. The Taipei District Court found him guilty of two counts of aggravated attempted forcible sexual intercourse and one count of aggravated attempted sexual molestation.

The case involved three female sales representatives from the financial industry who alleged that Cheng drugged them with unknown substances mixed into red wine during social gatherings. The victims reported waking up in various states of undress in hotel rooms or laboratories, unable to resist his advances.

Cheng had previously fled to Canada to avoid prosecution after failing to appear for a court hearing in March 2024. He was apprehended by authorities in Canada in mid-October 2025 and extradited to Taiwan. While he denied the allegations of drugging the victims, claiming he merely assisted them when they appeared tired, the prosecution provided evidence of the use of unknown agents to incapacitate the women.
