Former officials in Colombia and Bolivia face corruption investigations

Authorities in Colombia and Bolivia have launched investigations into former municipal officials regarding the alleged mismanagement of public funds.

In Colombia, the Procuraduría is investigating Luis Carlos Segura Rubiano, the former mayor and current mayoral candidate for Chía. The investigation concerns a 40 billion peso credit operation. Allegations suggest that Segura Rubiano signed contracts without required technical studies and committed municipal revenues as guarantees without explicit authorization from the Municipal Council. The conduct has been provisionally classified as a serious fault.

In Bolivia, the Ministerio Público has admitted a criminal complaint against former El Alto mayor Eva Copa and seven other former officials. The case involves alleged overpricing in an urban cleaning service contract with Empresa de Tratamiento de Residuos Bolivia (Trébol S.A.). The investigation focuses on a suspected economic loss of more than 2.1 million bolivianos due to irregular payments and breach of duties.
