Former Perbakin Official Accused of Repeated Sexual Abuse of Minor Athlete

Indonesia's Ministry of Youth and Sports, led by Minister Erick Thohir, condemned the alleged sexual abuse of a 15‑year‑old shooter from East Java by a former official of the Persatuan Menembak dan Berburu Seluruh Indonesia (Perbakin). Police identified the suspect, identified only as JL, 52, as having assaulted the athlete five times since February 2026, including physical punishments and repeated sexual acts in a hotel room in Surabaya. Thohir urged swift legal action, stating that "the perpetrator must no longer be allowed any role in Indonesia's sports environment" and pledged full support for the victim and her family. Law enforcement has named the suspect as a suspect and is proceeding with prosecution.
