Former Police Officer Arrested for Extorting Truck Drivers in Lubuklinggau, Indonesia

A former police officer identified only as E, 42, was arrested in Lubuklinggau, South Sumatra after a video of him demanding a Rp20,000 levy from a truck driver went viral on social media. E, a former member of the Indonesian National Police, wore a full police field uniform and a "Polisi" vest while stopping the vehicle and claiming the money was for coffee.

The Joint Crime Investigation Team of the Lubuk Linggau Police Department, together with internal affairs, captured E on July 8, 2026. They seized a Honda Vario motorcycle, two sets of police field uniforms, a green vest, police shoes, a helmet and other items. A urine test conducted by the narcotics unit showed E was positive for methamphetamine (sabu). Police chief AKBP Adithia Bagus Arjunadi said, “After the video went viral, we immediately launched an investigation and secured the suspect along with evidence. We are committed to strictly handling any abuse of police authority.” The investigation continues to identify any truck drivers who may have been victims.
