Former Polish Deputy Foreign Minister Piotr Wawrzyk Turns TikTok Food Critic After Visa Scandal
Piotr Wawrzyk, a former member of Poland’s ruling Law and Justice party and ex‑Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, was dismissed in August 2023 following a probe into irregularities in the issuance of Polish visas. In January 2024 the Central Anticorruption Bureau detained him on charges of abuse of authority and illicit disclosure of state information. After leaving politics, Wawrzyk relaunched a presence on TikTok, where he posts short videos reviewing meals he eats at seaside restaurants, commenting on prices and taste.
His food‑review series, titled “Good and Tested Food,” has attracted around ten thousand followers. The videos include remarks such as describing a skewer costing 82 zł as “a bit heavy but okay once a year” and noting a three‑course meal for 38 zł as “quite cheap for a coastal venue.” While the culinary content is light‑hearted, the coverage repeatedly references his involvement in the visa‑granting scandal and the legal proceedings that followed his political career.
