Former Politburo Member Ma Xingrui Indicted for Alleged Massive Bribery
Ma Xingrui, a former member of the Communist Party of China Politburo and former Party Secretary of Xinjiang, has been indicted on charges of accepting massive bribes. Following an investigation by the National Commission of Supervision, the Supreme People's Procuratorate ordered his arrest, and the case has been transferred to the Yichang City People's Procuratorate for prosecution.
Prosecutors allege that Ma utilized his various high-level positions, including his former roles as General Manager of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation and Governor of Guangdong Province, to seek benefits for others in exchange for illegal payments. The amount involved is described as exceptionally large.
Ma, born in 1959, had a long career in the aerospace and military industries before moving into provincial leadership roles in Guangdong and eventually Xinjiang. He had not made a public appearance since stepping down from his post in Xinjiang last year.
