Port Adelaide mourns sudden death of former forward Daniel Stewart

The Port Adelaide Football Club has announced the sudden death of former key forward Daniel Stewart at the age of 37. Stewart played 36 games and kicked 31 goals for the club during his AFL career between 2010 and 2013.

Recruited via the 2009 rookie draft, the 200cm forward previously played for North Adelaide in the SANFL, Labrador in Queensland, and the Eastern Ranges. Port Adelaide chief executive Matthew Richardson expressed deep condolences to Stewart’s family, including his wife, Laura, and two sons, Bernie and Lando.

To honor his memory, the club announced it will wear black armbands during its first home game at Adelaide Oval in 2027. Former teammate and media personality Kane Cornes described the passing as a “true tragedy,” remembering Stewart as a “brilliant and caring teammate.”
