Dominican PLD chief Pujols proposes opposition coalition for possible 2028 runoff
Party of the Liberation of the Dominican Republic (PLD) secretary‑general Johnny Pujols said the PLD would seek the backing of the opposition Fuerza del Pueblo (FP) if either party reaches a second‑round runoff in the 2028 presidential election, and he expects the same support in return. Pujols urged both opposition forces to focus on uniting against the governing Partido Revolucionario Moderno (PRM), describing internal party competition as counterproductive. He noted that Dominican politics has evolved into a three‑party system, increasing the likelihood of a runoff and stressing the need for the PLD to select its candidates through democratic, consensual processes.
