Former President Osvaldo Hurtado condemns Ecuador’s ADN lawmakers as ‘functional illiterates’

Former President Osvaldo Hurtado criticized legislators of the ruling Acción Democrática Nacional (ADN) in Ecuador on the Politizados podcast on 30 July 2026, describing them as “functional illiterates” and “semi‑illiterates”. He said the attacks on him were coordinated directly from the presidential palace.

Hurtado identified President Daniel Noboa, Minister of Government Nataly Morillo and Public Administration Secretary José Julio Neira as the executive officials responsible for the coordinated response, urging them to take responsibility. He also questioned the proscription of parties ahead of the November 2026 sectional elections.
