Former producer disputes Andy Cohen's claims regarding Candiace Dillard Bassett's exit

Former Real Housewives of Potomac (RHOP) producer Patrick McDonald has challenged statements made by Andy Cohen regarding Candiace Dillard Bassett’s departure from the Bravo franchise. During a panel at Bravo Fan Fest in Charleston, Cohen was asked how many Housewives had voluntarily left their shows. When the topic of Bassett was raised, Cohen appeared to imply her exit was not a voluntary decision, stating, “There’ve been a few.”

Mcdonald, who worked on Bassett’s final two seasons, disputed this account on social media, claiming Cohen was “rewriting the narrative.” McDonald stated that Bassett spent significant time weighing the pros and cons of returning to the show and ultimately decided that staying was not worth it for her or her family. He argued that the decision to leave was Bassett's own, suggesting that the parting of ways was mutual rather than a firing.

Bassett, who appeared on RHOP from its third season until the Season 8 reunion in April 2024, previously told People magazine that she cherished her six years on the show but decided to take a break to pursue new opportunities.
