Rita Flores claims FSB coerced her into spying and assassination plot

Former Pussy Riot activist Rita Flores has revealed that she was coerced into working as an informant for Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB). Flores claims the recruitment began in February 2023 following a raid on her Moscow apartment, where FSB agents allegedly threatened her with criminal charges related to her social media posts about Russian war crimes in Ukraine and threatened her family.

Operating under the code name ‘Harley,’ Flores states she was tasked with monitoring and profiling political dissidents and artists, including Maria Alyokhina and Pavel Krisevich. She reported receiving monthly payments of 50,000 rubles between early 2024 and June 2024, following an initial payment of 30,000 rubles.

Flores alleges she attempted to sabotage her assignments by feigning personal conflicts with targets to delay intelligence gathering. She further claims the FSB proposed a high-stakes mission in which she was to lure former Pussy Riot member and Mediazona editor Pyotr Verzilov to a cafe in Serbia, where agents allegedly planned to kidnap and kill him. Flores stated she refused the 3-million-ruble offer to participate in the plot and subsequently fled Russia.
