Former Qatari PM calls for GCC unity to support Saudi Arabia

Former Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jaber Al Thani has called on the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) to take decisive, practical action to support Saudi Arabia against ongoing threats. He warned that the GCC faces an “existential danger” and emphasized that the attacks targeting the Kingdom, while originating from within Yemen, are being managed and orchestrated from outside the country.

Bin Jassim urged GCC member states to set aside side disputes and move beyond mere verbal statements of support to demonstrate tangible unity. He noted that because Saudi Arabia is the largest nation within the GCC, its stability and strength are fundamental to the security of the entire council.

Regarding regional tensions, he identified Iran as the primary enemy of the GCC, though he expressed a desire to seek clear and peaceful relations with the country. He cautioned that various hostile plots are currently targeting the interests and political and economic control of the Gulf states.
