Former Rajasthan Minister Mahesh Joshi and Alleged Middleman Sanjay Badaya Arrested in Rs 900 crore JJM Scam
Mahesh Joshi, who served as Rajasthan's Public Health Engineering Department minister, was sent to judicial custody by an Anti‑Corruption Bureau (ACB) court in Jaipur after police remand, following his arrest on May 7 in connection with the alleged Rs 900 crore Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) scam.
The ACB also detained Sanjay Badaya, described as the mastermind and key middleman in the scheme, at Delhi airport on May 11 after his return from Thailand. He is being transferred to Jaipur for further investigation and is linked to Joshi and retired IAS officer Subodh Agarwal, both already arrested.
Investigators allege Badaya facilitated irregularities in tender processes, financial transactions, recruitment and land encroachment, and he could face up to ten years imprisonment if convicted under the Prevention of Corruption Act. The arrests were overseen by senior ACB officials, including DIG Dr Rameshwar Singh and DG Govind Gupta.
