Former RCMP Assistant Commissioner David Teboul pleads guilty to assault
David Teboul, the former assistant commissioner for the RCMP Pacific region, has pleaded guilty to an assault charge in Abbotsford provincial court. The plea was entered on October 28, 2026, during what was intended to be the first day of his trial.
The incident occurred on July 2, 2025, at the Abbotsford Recreation Centre. While Teboul was initially facing three offences, including a second assault charge and assault by choking, those additional charges are expected to be stayed at sentencing, which is scheduled for November 19.
Teboul, who joined the RCMP in 1997, held several high-level positions during his career, including roles in the homicide unit, the anti-corruption unit, and B.C.’s national security counter-terrorism program. He most recently served as the officer in charge of E Division and as assistant commissioner for the Pacific region, covering British Columbia and the Yukon. He has since resigned from the force.
