Former Rio Governor Garotinho Claims Video Shows Gov. Castro at Vorcaro's New York ‘Astronaut’ Party

Former Rio de Janeiro governor Anthony Garotinho announced he possesses a twelve‑minute video that allegedly captures state governor Cláudio Castro attending a lavish “astronaut” party organized by former banker Daniel Vorcaro in a New York presidential suite in May 2024. Garotinho said the footage was recorded by a fixed camera, later retrieved from Vorcaro’s seized phone by the Federal Police, examined by the Prosecutor‑General’s Office and forwarded to the Supreme Court, which has imposed judicial secrecy.

The party reportedly cost more than US$ 721,000 and featured foreign models who performed in astronaut helmets, alongside other politicians and public officials. Garotinho declined to release the material, citing the court‑ordered secrecy, but confirmed Castro’s presence with the brief remark, “Cláudio Castro tá lá.” No official verification of the video’s content has been made public.
