Former Romanian Forester Sentenced to Prison for Sex Abuse and Drug Trafficking of Minor

A 73‑year‑old former forester from Bistrița‑Năsăud was sentenced by the local tribunal to a lengthy prison term after being found guilty of raping a 15‑year‑old girl and supplying her with synthetic drugs in exchange for sexual relations. Prosecutors said the man repeatedly provided the minor with crystal‑type substances, fostering a drug dependency, and used the relationship to obtain intimate encounters. The court detailed the exchange of drugs for sex over multiple meetings between the summer of 2023 and May 2024, documenting phone calls, messages and photographs that proved the abusive arrangement. The sentencing follows a trial that began after the victim’s family reported the exploitation to police.

The case highlights ongoing concerns about child sexual exploitation and drug abuse in Romania, prompting calls for tighter oversight of vulnerable minors and stricter penalties for offenders.
