Former Royal College of Music teacher Jan Repko on trial for sexual assault

Jan Repko, a 68‑year‑old former violin instructor at the Royal College of Music in London, is on trial at Southwark Crown Court for allegedly sexually assaulting a prospective student during a 2022 consultation lesson. The complainant testified that Repko touched her waist and bottom, placed a hand over her crotch, undid her trousers and assaulted her with his finger after claiming he was demonstrating relaxation exercises. Repko, who also taught at Chetham’s School of Music and the Royal Northern College of Music, told the jury he was only showing body‑relaxation techniques to improve her playing.

The court heard details of the alleged assault, including the woman’s response that she was shocked and continued playing while the incident occurred. Repko maintains his actions were part of a teaching exercise.
