Former San Jose police officer sentenced to five years in prison

Denis Shevchenko, a 45-year-old former San Jose police officer and civilian community service officer, has been sentenced to five years in federal prison for possession of child pornography.

The investigation into Shevchenko began after FBI agents traced violent and threatening anonymous posts on Gab.com to his home computer. While searching for evidence of plots to kill police officers, liberals, and minorities, agents discovered the illegal images on his computer in 2021. Shevchenko was found guilty in a federal bench trial last October.
