Former Senator Bello Mandiya found dead in Abuja residence

Former Senator Bello Mandiya was found dead in his Abuja residence after lying undiscovered for approximately 72 hours. The details of the incident were shared by Senator Abdul Ningi during a Senate plenary session.

Mandiya, who lived alone, was last seen on Friday, September 4, around 11:00 am. He was reportedly preparing for congregational prayers when he entered his bathroom. According to Ningi, Mandiya slipped after bathing and struck his head, resulting in his death.

The former lawmaker's absence went unnoticed until residents and the chief imam of Apo became concerned after he missed three consecutive daily prayers. The discovery was eventually made on September 7, 2026, after a foul odor emanating from the apartment prompted neighbors to investigate and force entry into the residence.
