Former Singapore SAF officer sentenced to 21 months for fraud and e‑cigarette abuse

Benjamin Song Yong Pang, a former senior officer of the Singapore Armed Forces, was sentenced on 29 July to 21 months in prison and fined 6,000 SGD. The court found him guilty of defrauding five colleagues of a total of 86,750 SGD between May 2021 and March 2024, using false pretenses to obtain the money and later repaying it.

In addition, Song was convicted of violating Singapore’s e‑cigarette regulations by exploiting his rank to have subordinates purchase prohibited vaping devices and by distributing them to a female colleague. The offenses were deemed intentional and sustained over nearly three years, leading to the combined custodial and monetary penalty.
