Former soldier resurfaces in Ankara police custody after eight-day disappearance

Bora Arslanoğlu, a former soldier dismissed via emergency decree (KHK) who was previously acquitted in court, has resurfaced in police custody in Ankara after being missing for eight days.

Arslanoğlu disappeared on the morning of September 15 after leaving his home. During the initial search, the Ankara Police Department informed authorities and family that he was not in custody. However, he was later located in detention at the Ankara Police Department. This discrepancy has raised questions regarding his whereabouts during the period he was missing.

DEM Party lawmaker and human rights defender Ömer Faruk Gergerlioğlu has called for transparency from the Ankara Governor’s Office and police. Gergerlioğlu raised concerns regarding potential abduction, enforced disappearance, or torture. Additionally, Arslanoğlu’s wife was arrested and sent to Sincan Women's Prison during the period he was missing, leading to calls for an investigation into the connection between these events.
