Former Sopoti Librazhd captain Besnik Çota dies

Besnik Çota, a former captain and long‑time coach of the Albanian football club Sopoti Librazhd, died in a hospital in Tirana after battling a serious illness. He had spent years on dialysis and was widely respected for his technical skill, vision and leadership on the field during the 1990s, as well as for mentoring younger players as a trainer.

His death has been mourned by family, former teammates, and the broader Librazhd community, which regards him as a key figure in the town’s football history and Albanian sport overall.
