Former Split Mayor Željko Kerum Accuses State of Political Persecution Over Rogoznica Yacht Marina Removal

Former Split mayor Željko Kerum posted on Facebook that he has spent most of the summer under scrutiny by various state bodies, including the State Inspectorate, construction and tourism inspections, the port authority, customs, the Kaštela urban planning department, the State Attorney’s Office (DORH) and the anti‑corruption office (USKOK). He said a Telegram report triggered a state order to dismantle a yacht marina he built on public maritime land in Rogoznica, a facility erected more than twelve years ago and presented as a marina for nautical tourists.

Kerum claims the marina was constructed at his own expense, with permits issued before the war, and that it has caused no damage to the state or citizens. He alleges that a journalist from Telegram prompted the investigations and accuses the media and institutions of political persecution. He also acknowledged that part of his tourism complex in Kaštela was built without the required permits, which the State Inspectorate ordered to be removed. Kerum framed the entire episode as a politically motivated campaign against him.
