Former Tamaulipas officials implicate ex-governor Cabeza de Vaca
Former officials of the Tamaulipas state government have accused former governor Francisco García Cabeza de Vaca of maintaining direct control over public contract allocations and provider selection during his administration.
Carlos Alberto García González, the former Secretary of Economic Development, testified that Cabeza de Vaca provided direct instructions regarding projects involving more than 11.6 million pesos. García González, who is currently facing judicial proceedings, stated that his department was instructed to act only as a requesting entity, while other instances handled the selection of providers, adjudications, and payments. These investigations involve contracts linked to companies associated with Sergio Carmona Angulo.
Additionally, former Health Secretary Gloria Molina has alleged that resource management decisions were not made within individual departments but were under the direct control of the state executive. Her statements come amid investigations into a suspected 340 million peso financial discrepancy within the Ministry of Health. Cabeza de Vaca has been residing in the United States since October 2022 while facing various legal proceedings in Mexico.
