Former teacher Ryan McCaffery sentenced to prison for soliciting nude photos

Ryan McCaffery, 38, a former social studies teacher and junior varsity soccer coach at Riverhead High School, has been sentenced to three years in prison. Prosecutors stated that McCaffery used Snapchat to pose as a teenage boy, adding hundreds of young girls to solicit nude photos.

Between December 2024 and January 2025, McCaffery sent explicit images of himself to minors and requested nude photos in return. Forensic analysis also revealed that he attempted to purchase and view child sexual abuse material and shared abusive videos on the messaging app Kik. The investigation began after a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, leading to a raid on his home in January 2025.
