Former UNRWA teacher alleges antisemitic indoctrination in Gaza schools

A former Palestinian geography teacher who worked for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) for 15 years has alleged that staff at Gaza schools incite hatred against Jews and glorify Hamas's violent struggle against Israel.

In an interview with the New York Post, the 40-year-old educator stated that she initially joined UNRWA believing the schools would protect children from Hamas's culture of violence. Instead, she reported an environment where teachers openly called for hatred of Jews and praised the October 7 attacks. She estimated that more than half of the teachers believe violence against Jews is necessary to achieve political goals.

The teacher also detailed facing personal threats for attempting to challenge this indoctrination. After confronting a colleague regarding the content being taught to students, she reported being threatened by a school official with scissors, who allegedly told her, “We will make you wish you were dead; and if you do not stop arguing, we will cut out your tongue.”
