Former Valencian President Carlos Mazón Ordered to Provide WhatsApp Data in Flood Probe

Judge Nuria Ruiz Tobarra has instructed the legal team of former Generalitat Valenciana president Carlos Mazón to state within three days whether he will voluntarily submit his list of incoming and outgoing calls and any WhatsApp or other messaging data from 29 October 2024 linked to the severe “dana” flood.

The request, previously suspended while the Audiencia de Valencia decided on Mazón’s legal standing, was revived after the higher court approved his participation in the investigation. Mazón had earlier supplied an unofficial list of 19 calls without details. Other figures under investigation—including former regional minister Salomé Pradas, her deputy Emilio Argüeso, AEMET chief José Ángel Núñez, and PP leader Alberto Núñez Feijóo—have already handed over their communications, which the judge says will be cross‑checked by the court’s administration.

The judge’s order reiterates that any submitted material may be verified against phone records and invoices, following standard procedure in such cases.
