Korea's Lee Jae‑myung Unveils AI Declaration at San Francisco Summit

South Korean President Lee Jae‑myung attended the San Francisco AI Summit on 24 April, where he presented the "San Francisco AI Declaration". He urged global companies to view Korea as an indispensable partner in the AI supply chain, highlighting the country's leading memory‑chip capabilities and announcing a nationwide AI investment program worth roughly 4,700 trillion won.

During the summit Lee met with top tech executives, including Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, who announced a US$5 trillion business partnership with SK Group covering chip design and memory collaboration, as well as agreements with OpenAI’s Sam Altman and Anthropic’s Dario Amodei. Altman suggested a model of wealth redistribution based on corporate equity sharing, while Lee emphasized Korea’s aim to become a global AI hub and a testing ground for next‑generation AI systems.
