Former Việt Á CEO Phan Quốc Việt faces 5‑6‑year jail proposal in Đắk Lắk fraud case

The Đắk Lắk Provincial People's Court continues the trial of former Việt Á chairman Phan Quốc Việt and 11 co‑defendants accused of serious violations of bidding regulations, embezzlement and neglect of duty. Prosecutors allege the defendants falsified procurement procedures for medical supplies and equipment used in the COVID‑19 response, causing losses to the state budget.

For Phan Quốc Việt, the court is asked to impose a prison term of five to six years for the serious bidding violations. Other defendants face shorter sentences, such as five to six months for embezzlement, and combined terms ranging from 12 months to over three years for additional charges. The hearing will proceed with defense arguments before a final verdict is rendered.
