Former Wasserburg Mayor Michael Kölbl Honored as ‘Altbürgermeister’
The Wasserburg city council convened on 30 July and bestowed the honorary title “Altbürgermeister” on Michael Kölbl, who is retiring after 24 years as the town’s mayor. The ceremony was marked by standing ovations, and his successor Bastian Wernthaler presented Kölbl with a certificate, a printed version of his farewell presentation, and a silver municipal medal. Kölbl praised the smooth transition of office and expressed satisfaction with his retirement.
During the same meeting the council addressed a range of local matters, including proposals to lower cemetery fees, introduce a 20‑minute bus schedule, measures to mitigate extreme drought, the awarding of a contract for sludge disposal at the water‑treatment plant, and revisions to several building plans. These items reflect the council’s broader agenda alongside the honorary award.
